Prologue: The Last Fire of Dusk
In the ancient lands of Aethelgard, the sun is no longer the source of life. Since the opening of the Abyssal Rift, the monstrous tide known as The Blight has swept across the world like a black flood, devouring forests, veins of ore, and civilization itself. Following the end of the Age of Heroes, the surviving races established the fragile Sanctuary Treaty amidst the ruins.
Yet, the haughty Elves have retreated to their cities above the clouds, and the avaricious Dwarves lie dormant deep within the earth. Only Humanity—the shortest-lived and physically weakest of all—has been thrust to the front lines to hold back the encroaching darkness.
I. The Remnants of the World: The Final Two Cities
The lifeblood of human civilization now clings to survival through two lonely stars:
-
Orestia, the Holy Rose City: The spiritual and political heart of mankind. At its center stands the colossal Altar of the White Rose. It serves as the headquarters for General Camilla, the Rose Knight, acting not only as a bastion but as the sanctuary for all who wander in exile.
-
The Iron Neck: Blacksteel Fortress: Chokepoint of the only canyon passage. There are no civilians here—only eternal forges and a garrison of soldiers prepared for death. It is the final physical barrier protecting Orestia.
II. Nightmares of the Era: The Evolved Monsters
If the early beasts were merely rabid animals, they have now evolved into the harbingers of extinction.
-
Sky-Rippers: Colossal creatures with leathery wings and corrosive venom sacs. They bypass the high walls to strike directly at the vulnerable civilian districts within the city.
-
Mountain-Breakers: Grotesque, fifty-meter-tall mountains of flesh, their backs armored in bone-plates harder than granite. Every step they take shatters the earth, posing the greatest threat to human shield formations.
III. The Mortal Counterattack: Steel and Strategy
Facing an absolute disparity in power, Humanity has developed a highly disciplined science of war:
-
The Rose Formations:
-
The Great Shield Phalanx: Tower shields and long spears interlock to create an impenetrable thicket of steel.
-
Chariot Interception: War chariots mounted with heavy ballistae weave through the battlefield to sever and stall the advance of the giants.
-
-
Heavy Firepower: Triple-bow siege crossbows driven by alchemical gunpowder, and early cannons capable of firing shrapnel shells. The cost of a single round is enough to sustain an ordinary family for an entire year.
IV. The Sole Hope: Rose Knight Camilla
She is the final God of War for Humanity.
-
Sacred Armament: She is clad in the Holy Rose Silver Armor, a masterpiece born of ancient alchemy and the sheer will of heroes. Though her plate gleams with divine light, the tattered white cape behind her tells the silent tale of a thousand death-defying battles. In her hand, she wields the Thorn of the Holy Rose, the only divine blade capable of severing the ankles of a Mountain-Breaker on the grand battlefield.
-
The General’s Burden: She is the razor’s edge on the front line and a lonely diplomat at the parley table. She must navigate the arrogance of the High Elves and the coldness of the Gray Dwarves, bartering the last shreds of human dignity for reinforcements.
V. The Curtain Rises: Dawn at the Iron Neck
The wind carried the stench of rot—the breath of tens of thousands of monsters lurking in the dark.
At the highest rampart of the Blacksteel Fortress, General Camilla leaned against the stone. From long hours of toil, her fingers had grown pale under the pressure of her gauntlets. In the distance, the shriek of Sky-Rippers pierced the heavens, and on the horizon, several massive shadows slowly lurched toward the fortress.
"General, the Dwarven fire-oil is down to the last thirty crates. And the Elven reinforcements... they refuse to deploy in the dark," the lieutenant’s voice trembled.
Camilla slowly pulled down her visor, leaving only a pair of deep, resolute eyes visible. She drew her radiant holy sword, its light slicing through the gloom, as her tattered white cloak snapped violently in the freezing wind.
"Humanity has no need for the charity of cowards."
She turned to face the tens of thousands of soldiers standing beneath the walls, clutching their crude spears. Her voice was calm, yet it pierced through the thick smoke of war:
"The hymn of humanity is the hymn of courage!"
